Bali Kite Festival is back for the 34th time this year 2012. The festival takes place since the proficiency level on July 13 to 15, 2012 in Padang Field fierce, Sanur Beach.
For the majority of the Balinese people, kite has become a part of their everyday culture. Everybody loves flying kites from young and old, men and women. Some even believe that kite has a religious meaning, which is dedicated to the God of the protective Rare Anggon that believe giving protection for rice farmers from plant hopper pests and birds.
The Kite categories that participate are different in the 34th Bali Kite Festival, like a traditional kite Bebean (a fish), Janggan (bird-shaped), Pecukan (leaf-shaped), and new some creations. With various size, ranging from 4-10 meters. In fact, a kite tail or as local would call it ‘Janggan’ can be 200-meter long!
Each participating team can be up to 10 people, depending on the size of the kite to be flown. When competing, all team members must wear traditional Balinese clothing attributes.
